Elk Mountain Skiing
Established in 1959, Elk Mountain is one of Pennsylvania's first commercial ski areas. For many, Elk Mountain skiing is among the finest in the state and ranks high among east coast ski resorts. Diverse terrain and long runs make this a favorite mountain for experienced skiers. Those just learning to ski can also enjoy Elk Mountain since 25% of the trails here are specifically for beginners. In addition to long runs and challenging terrain, many skiers enjoy Elk Mountain skiing because the crowds are usually manageable and the trails are almost always well-groomed. On the downside, the lodge is a bit dated and tends to get crowded during peak lunch times. Also, because no snowtubing is offered, there is not much to do for non-skiers and they will likely be bored here Elk Mountain Skiing Details| Trails | 27 | Alpine Skiing | Yes | | Terrain | B 25%, I 30%, E/A 45% | Cross Country | No | | Longest Run | 1.75 miles | Lessons | Yes | | Base Elevation | 1693 ft. | Childrens Program | Yes | | Summit Elevation | 2693 ft. | Snowboarding | Yes | | Vertical Drop | 1,000 ft. | Night Skiing | Yes | | Snowmaking | Yes | Terrain Park | Yes | | Lifts | 1Q, 5D | Half Pipe | No | | Equipment Rental | Yes | Snow Tubing | No |
