Chocolate Spa Treatments
Chocolate is the inspiration behind many of the unique spa treatments at the Hotel Hershey Spa. In fact, the spa is often referred to as The Chocolate Spa.
The three-story, 30,000 square foot Hotel Hershey Spa is a full-service spa, overlooking the Hershey Resort magnificent formal gardens and reflecting pools. You can easily spend a day here enjoying spa treatments and just soaking up the relaxing atmosphere.
Chocolate Spa Treatments
Yes, you will find all the typical spa treatments here including, wraps, scrubs, massages, manicures, pedicures and soaks, but the real draw is the spa's signature chocolate spa treatments. Here is a sample from the chocolate spa menu.
Chocolate Bean Polish - A sweet treat for your skin, this exfoliating body scrub uses cocoa bean husks, walnut shells and cocoa body moisturizer.
Chocolate Fondue Wrap - Yes, this sounds like some sort of decadent sandwich found on the menu at a Hershey restaurant, but it is actually a spa treatment. It starts with a body brushing followed by a fondue of warmed moor mud and an essence of cocoa application. The treatment ends with a warm blanket wrap and The Hershey Vichy Shower. Sweet!
Cocoa Massage - A heavenly combination of chocolate-scented massage oil and a traditional Swedish massage.
Cocoa Facial Experience - By popular demand, this sweet facial was introduced at the Hotel Hershey Spa in 2007. Depending on skin type, estheticians choose from a variety of masks and exfoliation products to customize your chocolate facial. Facial "flavors" include caramel, cocoa creme, peppermint and strawberry. Who says chocolate is bad for your complexion?
Whipped Cocoa Bath - A spa treatment so unique that it was awarded a U.S. patent for its visual and sensual effects. Partaking in this foaming, therapeutic bath is pretty much like lounging in a cup of hot chocolate! The fine folks at the Hershey Resort are kind enough to share their whipped cocoa bath "recipe" for an at-home version of the whipped cocoa bath.
Whipped Cocoa Bath "Recipe"
1/8 cup Herhsey's unsweetened cocoa powder
1/3 cup non-fat dry milk powder
1/2 cup Hershey's Whipped Cocoa Bath* or any unscented bubble bath
In order to create a foamy, frothing effect this bath is best in a whirlpool tub. Add cocoa powder and milk powder while tub is filling. Add Whipped Cocoa Bath or unscented bubble bath and then turn on the whirlpool. Relax and enjoy!
* Hershey Whipped Cocoa Bath can be purchased at the Hotel Hershey Spa.
The Hotel Hershey Spa Experience
To take full advantage of the Hotel Hershey Spa experience, definitely plan to arrive early or stay after your spa treatment to enjoy the other spa and resort facilities. The spa's Quiet Room, Silent Room and Lodge Room offer places to relax and have a light snack of water, tea, hot chocolate, fruit and of course, Hershey Kisses. The Lodge Room overlooks the garden and is a good choice if you are enjoying your spa visit with others and want to chat. Spa guests also have full use of the fitness center, sauna, steam room, Whirlpool and indoor pool.
You can also enjoy mid-day dining at the Hotel Hershey Spa while in the comfort of your spa robe. The Oasis is a lounge that offers lunch exclusively to spa guests. The relaxing atmosphere includes a water wall, crystal chandeliers and overstuffed lounge furniture. Lunch selections include wrap sandwiches, salads, smoothies and fruit juices. Lunch at The Oasis is included in many of the Hershey Resort's full-day and half-day spa packages.
Insider Tip: The spa tends to get crowded on weekends and seating in the relaxation areas gets tight. A mid-week visit to the spa will likely be more relaxing. If you visit on the weekend, try to book appointments for firs thing in the morning.
